Pray for Syria
Join us in prayer for Syria following the sudden end of Assad's rule.
What's happening in Syria?
President Bashar Assad’s 24-year rule came to a sudden end this past weekend after rebels captured Syria’s capital, Damascus. Having endured 14 years of conflict, forcing more than 16 million Syrians from their homes, Syria now enters a new phase – one that we all hope will bring lasting peace.
World Vision has been working to support displaced Syrians since the conflict broke out in 2011. This has included essentials like food, water and medical items as well as healthcare, education, and safe spaces for children to play and receive psychological support.
A prayer for Syria
Lord, we lift up the people of Syria, praying for their safety, wellbeing and future. We pray that feelings of hope for peace will not be short-lived. We ask that all who hold positions of power and influence – in and outside the country – will make wise choices that lead to stability.
We pray for Syria’s children, particularly those growing up in displacement and refugee camps, having never had a true home. Keep them healthy and safe from harm, today and in the days and weeks to come. Amen.
