Türkiye and Syria Earthquake

Türkiye and Syria Earthquake Response: thank you for your kindness

A year ago, on 6 February 2023, two deadly earthquakes hit parts of Syria and Türkiye.

Over 55,000 people were killed and 6 million people displaced from their homes. Lives, homes, schools, livelihoods – gone in a matter of minutes.

The devastation couldn’t have come at a worse time, in the heart of winter, and in an already very difficult context after over a decade of long-running conflict in the region.

Thanks to generous support from members of the public and businesses, World Vision staff were able to respond immediately – from the very first day - and have stayed to support families through the toughest 12 months of their lives.

To date, over 1.8 million people, have been reached in Northwest Syria and Türkiye by our overall response.

How your donations have helped

Continuing to support communities

Now, a year on, World Vision is still working with communities to ensure they are built back stronger. This will see more children return to education, more health facilities rebuilt, more vital infrastructure repaired, and more jobs created amongst the millions of Syrians still living in or displaced from the region.

If you would like to continue supporting this vital work, please read more about our Emergency Fund.

How we work in emergencies

When emergencies hit, children are often the most at risk. That’s why we need to be there – in places torn apart by disasters. World Vision works in almost 100 countries, which means that when emergencies happen, we can respond as quickly and effectively as possible. But to do so, we need your help.
