As the unrelenting war in Ukraine enters its fourth year, it continues to have a devastating impact on the wellbeing and survival of an entire generation of children.

6.3 million refugees have left Ukraine and another 3.6 million – 90% of whom are women and children - are still displaced within the country. Children are struggling to access the basic needs every child deserves, and are deprived of their rights to safety, education, health and a home.

Even if proposed peace talks result in an end to the fighting, the road to recovery for children and families will be a long and difficult one.

That’s why we’re asking for your support to continue saving lives and protecting children. We’re working with our partners in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries, responding to the urgent needs of children and families still unable to return to their homes.

Because of generous supporters like you, we've been able to help over 2.1 million people since the conflict began (almost half of these are children). This includes:

over 275,000 children being able to continue their education, helping them to find normality in the trials of conflict.
over 210,000 people receiving psychological support
69 child-friendly spaces giving children a safe place to learn, play and receive emotional support.

How we work in emergencies

When emergencies hit, children are often the most at risk. That’s why we need to be there – in places torn apart by disasters and conflict.

We respond all over the world

During 2024, we helped over 35 million people in emergencies - including 19 million children. We respond to humanitarian crises, caused by conflict as well as natural disasters, in 65 different countries.

We’re one of the first organisations to respond when an emergency strikes. Within 72 hours of a disaster, we can deliver lifesaving supplies anywhere in the world – often even sooner.
